The twenty-one track album encapsulates an important time in rock music history, without seeming dated, and the sound quality on every track is top notch. The ambient noise has been filtered out (especially apparent on the familiar live performance of "Give Peace a Chance"), leaving the listener with pure, unadulterated music. Two previously unreleased tracks, "Attica State" and "John Sinclair," complete the collection. The U.S. vs. John Lennon would stand firmly on its own, even if it weren’t for the motion picture it was assembled for.
