Back in 2006, after an 11-year hiatus since the passing of front man Shannon Hoon due to accidental overdose, Blind Melon – one of a short list of jambands to hit the mainstream – attempted a reunion with a new lead singer, Travis Warren. While by most accounts the 2.0 version of Blind Melon sounded pretty good, this acoustic version of Paper Scratcher with Hoon provides “case and point” as to why some bands can never be reborn. Shannon Hoon had remarkable talent and a voice that could never be replaced. Travis Warren subsequently quit in 2008 and the band continues to search for a singer. See if you agree…
