While the Drive-By Truckers have had a critically acclaimed 2015 they are already looking forward to 2016 with the exciting announcement of new spring tour dates (purchase HERE) and plans to release a new studio record.
Back in July lead singer/songwriter Patterson Hood stirred up lively discussion with an op-ed he wrote for the New York Times discussing the meaning of the Confederate flag from the perspective of a born and bred Southerner. The band then released the 5 LP / 3 CD Deluxe live album It’s Great To Be Alive! at the end of October, which features key tracks that span their nearly 20 year career.

The record received great praise from the press both for the record’s rocking intensity and the selected tracks included from the band’s extensive catalogue. “Musicians will forever insist that their more recent work holds up alongside their classic material,” said Pitchfork. “It’s Great to be Alive! is proof that the Drive-By Truckers’ discography is the rare case where such wishful thinking actually proves true.”
Now winding down the year, singer/guitarist Mike Cooley is performing select solo shows, as is Hood. Hood also recently gave a lecture at the Clinton Presidential Center and a commencement address to this year’s University of North Alabama graduates. All upcoming dates can be found below.
