The self-described “future cowboys” of Dirtwire consists of David Satori of Beats Antique, Evan Fraser of Bolo, and Mark Reveley of Jed and Lucia. Like their respective projects, these multi-instrumentalists bring in Americana,world music, funk, blues, and beats to create a sound that lives completely in its own realm. Their recently released album Showdown is more explosive than anything they’ve done to date, and thematically it explores authenticity and resistance, coming at a turbulent time when those things are vital. In their own words, the band elaborates, saying, “Showdown is about standing up for what you believe in. We are living in a time of great extremes and polarized political spheres. The risk of totalitarianism is real. The risk of environmental collapse is real. We hope to unify people under the banner of music and inspire action in a world that is crying out for help. Showdown is about walking the walk and not backing down against oppressive powers that be which try to control and manipulate the people in their never ending pursuit of power. Its also about Shish Kabobs and spaghetti westerns.”
Today Glide Magazine is excited to premiere the new video for one of the standout tracks on Showdown. “Lost Highway” features a sinister dance groove accompanied by wonky Middle Eastern beats. The vocals bring to mind Dan Auerbach and the lyrics fit well over a psychedelic blend of animation and archival footage of cowboys and the western landscapes.
