2019 Oscar Nominations Revealed – Get Your Picks Ready

The nominations are in. As the finale of the movie awards season, the Oscars represent the best of the best, the award most coveted by Hollywood and the men and women who put so much work into the films we love (and love to hate). 2018 was a banner year for film, and the nominations remind us of all the great films and performances we saw last year.

Airing on Sunday, February 24 on ABC, this year’s ceremony will be a rare, hostless event following the controversy regarding former host Kevin Hart’s decade-old homophobic tweets. The Academy has promised that the event will still be entertaining, with a rotating series of stars performing skits and monologues in the place of the host’s duties. This isn’t an unheard of phenomenon, with the show previously going hostless back in 1989 (though that show is widely considered one of the worst show’s in Oscar history).

This year’s favorites are Roma and The Favourite, who each pulled in 10 nominations and have both dominated the awards season thus far. Black Panther has brought Marvel some Real Cinematic Cred with its nominations, including for Best Picture; though the studio has dominated technical awards nominations for the last decade or so, its nomination for Best Picture lends some legitimacy not just to the studio but for the genre as a whole.

There’s always a massive buzz surrounding the Oscar’s and the nominations. Office pools and friendly bets are big parts of the excitement, with even Vegas setting odds for would be betters to use when making their picks. Sports Betting Dime is a good place to do your research before you go all in on your favorite actor or actress. The Oscars can be unpredictable! For now, you can see the full list of nominations below and start making your picks.

The 91st Annual Academy Awards airs Sunday February 24 at 8pm EST on ABC.
