50 years ago today (5/14/69), Neil Young released his second studio album Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere and the first with his first and most prolific of many backing bands -Crazy Horse. The album contains four songs that became standards in Young’s performance repertoire: “Cinnamon Girl”, “Down by the River”, the title track, and “Cowgirl in the Sand”, all of which were said to be written in a single day while Young had a 103 °F (39.5 °C) fever.
