Paid Dues Independent Hip Hop Festival is set to take place March 30, 2013 in San Bernardino, California at the San Manuel Amphitheatre. This annual festival began in 2006, where artists like Felt, Aesop Rock, Brother Ali and Living Legends performed and has only grown exponentially over the past seven years.
Paid Dues is put on for the independent artists that have paid their dues to the music industry and have finally made a name for themselves, as well as for artist that are underground, talented and looking for more exposure.
Murs 3:16 and Guerilla Union present the concert and this year’s line-up is creating quite the stir. Black Hippy, which includes Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy-Q, Ab-Soul and Jay Rock, is headlining and the talent doesn’t stop there. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are scheduled to perform; other big-name artists playing include Tech N9ne, Hopsin, Mobb Deep, Nipsey Hussle and Immortal Technique. Some new faces to Paid Dues include, Juicy J and Trinidad James, both emerging more onto the hip-hop scene this past year with hits like “All Gold Everything,” and “Trippy Mane.”
The venue, the San Manuel Amphitheatre, is the perfect environment for this event. With a capacity of 65,000 screaming fans, it is the biggest outdoor venue in the United States. It has been used to host Ozzfest, Mayhem Festival and the Cypress Hill Smokeout Festival, as well as hosting Nas in 2011.
