50 years ago today (8/6/69), the late singer-songwriter Elliott Smith was born. Smith has always been profound at disguising his depression and cryptic visions through his catchy Beatlesque melodies. Although thrown into the world of sad music – it’s almost like Smith, knew prior to his October 2003 death at age 34 from stab wounds, that his pain would somehow be doused. Despite that, Smith left listeners with a relatively large catalog of wondrous albums and songs. Listen to “Can’t Make a Sound” off 2000’s Figure 8.
