Goldensuns is a brotherhood, quite literally. Made up of the Meier brothers, Chase (vocals/bass), Jantzen (guitar), and Weston (drums), their music is rooted in tight compositions that make you feel everything at once.
While the band has been claimed as the definitive sound of the Golden State, they maintain a steadfast allegiance to their Salt Lake, Utah roots. Growing up in a musical family, it wasn’t long till the brothers realized they would dedicate their lives to this. Although they’ve relocated to L.A, the band still heads to their hometown to write and produce their projects. This homemade production mentality began with their debut EP, Wine Country, continued with their Golden Sun EP which debuted as Bandcamp’s number one seller, led by the single “Kings Cup” and propelled them into the music scene.
Now, the brothers are set to release their next EP in early 2021, wiser with years of industry experience that quietly reveals itself in their songwriting and production.
Check out “Cover It Up,” (below) the soothing and psychedelic new single Goldensuns. This band of brothers sonically blend style and grace as mantric lyrics rest atop a warm blanket of restrained guitar playing and hooky bass grooves. Chase Meier sings with emotional depth and impressive vocal control, nodding to indie rock gods Built To Spill and Swervedriver.
“Sometimes your loved ones lie to you but you choose not to confront them about it, whatever your reason may be. This song leaves you with that unmistakable somber feeling of knowing but pretending like everything’s alright,” says the band.
