LISTEN: Lydia Loveless Gets Into Holiday Mode With New Single “Merry Christmas”

Ahead of the holidays this week, Lydia Loveless has shared her new song “Merry Christmas,” alongside an accompanying video, directed by herself and Michael Casey. The melancholic seasonal tune is now available via Bandcamp, with all profits benefiting her home state’s Mid-Ohio Food Bank. “I wanted to try my hand at a holiday song. Every year I intend to write one and give up. This year, the only thing I feel like I have any control over is my creativity—so it seemed like now or never,” explains the now North Carolina-based Loveless. “One of the things I have missed most is making music with others, so I asked my bandmates George (Hondroulis) and Todd (May) to add to it. It was a little spark of joy in a super bummer season.”

“Merry Christmas” follows the release of Daughter—Loveless’ first album in four years and first for her own label.
