30 years ago today (8/24/91), the expression that filled high school halls was born when Naughy By Nature released their huge hit single “O.P.P.” The song off the debut LP Naughty by Nature, was one of the first rap songs to become a pop hit when it reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song samples Melvin Bliss’ “Synthetic Substitution” and The Jackson 5’s “ABC”. Its lyrics concern sexual infidelity, with “O.P.P.” standing for “other people’s pussy”, “other people’s penis”, and (euphemistically) “Office of Public Prosecution – per popular opinion.
