LISTEN: King Dream Ft. Rainbow Girls Drop Big Classic Rock Hooks On ‘Living Like a Teenager”

Jeremy Lyon AKA King Dream picked up a guitar at age 7 and began writing songs soon after. With a swift gift for hooks and the easy-going charisma of a natural frontman, Lyon has rarely been without a band since high school.

Oakland-based King Dream is back, and this time with a little help from his friends, The Rainbow Girls, on his fresh single, “Living Like A Teenager.” The production is charismatic and warm, an all-inclusive summer anthem that is light-hearted in its delivery and rings home like an 80s classic rock radio hit.

“The process of making “Living Like a Teenager” grew from the sardonic question, “when will you grow up?” to a tongue-in-cheek ode to never growing old. For that, I have my bandmates, friends, housemates, and the music video director Schlee to thank. I wrote this song 5 years ago but didn’t release it on my last album because I thought it was “too poppy.” At a certain point, I decided to embrace all aspects of my songwriting which, in this case, meant recording a song you might actually hear on the radio someday. Sometimes we musicians get so caught up in trying to make serious art that we forget that music should be fun. Making this record taught me to get out of my own way and enjoy the ride.”
