Steph Green’s debut album, Thanks for That was recorded to tape over the course of three years in various houses throughout New Orleans and is set to be released on Mashed Potato Records on January 14th. Previously, Green put out two EP’s, “Spooky Love” and “Salt Spring Island Tapes,” both of which were initially released under the alias “Carver Baronda” in 2019. In addition to her own songwriting, Green often appears as a backing musician and vocalist for a wide variety of artists, most frequently performing in support of Duff Thompson.4
Settle into the illuminated world of Green on her debut single “Night Falls” where a jangly guitar line meets Green’s tender and emotive vocals. The tune breathes and moves, permeating the feel, as Mash Potato Records tend to do. The collective of creatives – mostly based in New Orleans – seems like the type of crew that likely will go down in music history, appearing as a group of indie rag-tags though every album they put out seems to be touched with a golden heart.
“Night Falls is a song that gestures toward the broader mysteries of time, space, and not being able to get off the couch,” says Green.
