“Never Meant to Do tou Harm” is the blazing new single from Bang Bang Jet Away, a current recording project composed of Mathhew Binder and Mike Kamoo. While the track has a strong link to The Strokes, Kamoo was in the San-Diego based Stereotypes afterall, the duo bring some new rhythmic and melodic twists to the format that prevents it from coming off as a throwback to a bygone era. The result is raw, impulsive, good ol’ rock and roll that refreshingly doesn’t overthink itself.
“‘Never Meant To Do You Harm sounds like a guy begging forgiveness from his girlfriend for committing a terrible wrongdoing. But it’s actually a plea from a guy to his pet cat. One night we were working in Kamoo’s home studio when the cat went missing. After searching high and low, we returned to the studio, but the momentum was lost on the song we were working on. Instead, we penned this tune as a plea for Ines (the cat) to return. Two days later, she came home, but with a piece of her ear missing. Perhaps a skirmish with a coyote,” says the duo.
