Happy 75th birthday today to astrophysicist and lead guitarist Brian May of Queen (born 7/19/47). With his home-built electric guitar called the Red Special, May has composed some of rock’s most gigantic anthems, along with a plethora of other singles that have earned the curly-haired ax player status as one of rock’s greatest composers and guitarists. May is still going strong today with Queen as they continue to tour with Adam Lambert, decades after the death of Freddie Mercury. Watch May and Queen perform live at the Rainbow in ’74
