The instrumental recording duo, Hot Mustard, is proud to announce the release of their debut album, Mother Sauce, on Eddie Robert’s (New Mastersounds) Color Red label. Track by track, the debut album offers an unpretentious, yet decadent menu of sonic flavors, effortlessly weaving chopped dry-aged drum arrangements with buttery bass lines, twang-infused funk guitar licks, and 70’s synth-inspired string nostalgia. Fueling the record throughout are the Brooklyn, NY based Big brass Beats, the all-brass horn section featuring Grammy-nominated trumpeter Jordan Mclean (Antibalas) and trombonist Dave “Smoota” Smith (TV On The Radio).
Just in time for the low-down, dirty dog days of summer, s Hot Mustard is here with their double entendre brimming single “Naked When You Come”. Blending boom-bap hip hop with early Stax recordings and Daptone, “Naked When you Come” is the perfect track to crank up, close your eyes, and slyly bob your head to because it’s too damn hot to do just about anything else. The full length album, Mother Sauce is out September 3.
On this track, Kendall’s voice is sultry and seductive, but also kind of dark and mysterious, so we knew it was going to be perfect for the lyrical content of the track as it seems like it might be one thing on the surface but is actually something entirely different when you listen more closely,” says the duo.
