Khruangbin’s brand of international flavored instrumental fusion has gained them a dedicated fan base and collaborations with some big names (Leon Bridges). Their latest collaborative project comes in the form of Ali, an 8-track album with legendary African-born musician Vieux Farka Touré. The album is set to be released on September 23 via Dead Oceans but before the album’s release, the two artists took over Prospect Park for a show together last night (August 4).
The only time the two artists shared the stage was when Khruangbin brought out Touré to perform “Machine Me”, an unreleased track from their upcoming album. This show comes right in the middle of Touré’s current tour in support of his sixth album Les Racines. The two acts performed separate sets otherwise, Khruangbin spreading out their performance with tracks from their whole discography.
Check out footage from last night’s show below:
[1/2] @Khruangbin played a very sold out Bandshell at Prospect Park last night and were absolutely magnificent! I especially enjoyed when opener @VieuxFarkaToure returned to the stage during Khruangbin's encore. (???? for @briccelebratebk) https://t.co/WuniNc4GeB pic.twitter.com/Nwipo72bFM
