Michael B Thomas, the solo project of Leeds singer-songwriter Thomas Barr, brings a mix of 70’s psych-folk and 90’s alt-country on the hushed, melancholic debut single “August”. Providing the perfect bittersweet backdrop to the passing of the torch between adolescence and adulthood, “August” is an exciting preview of what’s to come from the emerging solo artist.
“I guess August is a reflection on the beginning and end of a friendship or relationship with someone, how you can go from knowing every little intricacy and detail of a human being to then never having anything to do with them again, and the weird feeling it entails, that I’m sure many of us have gone through at some stage in our lives,” says Thomas.
