Dean Johnson has a way of baring it all without the filter of fancy technicality or instrumentation on his new single “Acting School.” The song is lyrically brash and gentle and easy musically. Special guest Esther Rose’s voice is the perfect accompaniment to Johnson’s higher register. Their harmonies are so tight that occasionally cross over each other effortlessly. The strength of the lyrics on this one may take a few spins to sink in, but it’s a beautifully intimate look into the mind of someone feigning confidence and emotional stability in the face of lost love.
