You’ll no doubt be drawn into “Psychedelics With You” by Leslie Vincent within seconds of its swinging drums and muted Trumpet meandering. In the beginning, it feels like it could be a big jazz dance number, but a lot of the song winds up leaning more into a cool piano jazz pocket while Vincent spins a modern pop sensible tune over top of a vintage classic vibe. By the end though, the band gets loose and leans into a full-on swing jazz groove with Clarinet and trumpet dancing around each other while voices hoot, holler and laugh. Vincent’s vocal delivery is well-rounded and personable with strong control and a great attitude in the perfect moments. Keep an eye out for a new record within the year.
“Psychedelics With You’ is a celebration of life and a sadness of time passed. I wrote it about spending all my time with my best friend until our paths took us to different places. Ultimately, it’s about feeling the grief but getting up and joining the party anyways, and I hope it helps people shake off some feelings,” says Vincent.
