LISTEN: Humbird Embraces The Unexpected On Rockin’ “Cornfields And Roadkill”

Humbird’s music moves between experimental folk and environmental Americana to embrace the unexpected. Siri Undlin, the singer-songwriter behind the moniker, witnessed the power of storytelling in her childhood home and began writing music and performing in choirs and Irish ensembles from a young age.

Step into the raw and real sonic wonderland of Humbird’s new single, “Cornfields and Roadkill”. The singer-songwriter shines in her element, seeped in unique and introspective lyrical whimsey and crunchy guitar explosiveness. A gifted artist, whose strength of vocals shines as do her lyrical quips, Humbird is a singular voice who over and over again impresses with her creative web-spinning of sonic euphoria.

“‘Cornfields And Roadkill’ is a song written in the spirit and in honor of the American heartland – “fly over country” that is in fact beautiful, haunting, complex, and mystical if you know where to look. References to Aldo Leopold and Tom Petty commingle with historical reflections to the legacy of stolen land and monocrops. The song is recorded in such a way that the anger is palpable, but hopefulness is too,” sayys Undlin.
