Bug Seance is a five-piece heavy and dreamy band based in Portland, OR. In its five years of existence, the project has evolved to become a thoughtfully crafted blend of emo, post-rock, and shoegaze elements. In 2022, Bug Seance had the opportunity to play with Philly-based emo legends Algernon Cadwallader on their West Coast reunion tour. Bug Seance has also played alongside acts such as Glacier Veins, Glitterer, Fred Mascherino (of Taking Back Sunday), MAITA, and Soft Kill.
Bug Seance blends styles from across the rock world to land on the lush vocals and crashing drums of “Wavering.” The shoegaze-style vocals blend beautifully with the arrangement’s punk tempos and surf-rock tones reminiscent of Dehd and Horsegirl. Their borderless approach to music makes putting the band in a box futile. They pen honest lyrics and set them to an array of influences that never cease morphing throughout “Wavering.”
“‘Wavering’ is a song that addresses paralyzing social anxiety and the resolve to overcome it,” explains Xochitl Vilorio of the band.
