In 2024, Glide spent our Thursdays digging deep into the hallowed halls of the internet, unearthing some of the rare and exciting moments in Hip-hop history. The journey involved many freestyles, electrifying live performances, and insightful interviews with the genre’s most iconic stars. The search could be never-ending, given the countless hours of YouTube videos readily available, but with a new year comes a new era. For 2025, Glide will proudly and fearlessly dive into the catacombs of one of the most colorful, controversial, and awe-inspiring eras any genre has ever seen. We’re talking about the heyday of Punk Rock.

Throughout 2025, we will dig up videos to send any punk fan back to an era when inventive musicianship and heartfelt lyrics were fired through speakers at blazing speeds. For our inaugural Punk edition of Golden Age Thursday, we bring you a rare live performance from one of the most iconic punk bands ever to grace the stage. Bad Brains’ impact on the genre was immediate. Upon releasing their 1982 self-titled LP, the band was revered for their refreshingly hardcore take on the modern scene. Today, we look at a Bad Brains performance from 1979, a few years before their infamous debut shook the music world to its core. “At the Atlantis” first appeared on Black Dots, a 1996 compilation LP that comprised demo versions of popular tracks and previously unreleased work. Bad Brains took over the legendary CBGB with an electrifying performance that cemented their place in the minds of every punk present and every punk after that. You can watch the full performance below.
