Known for his intimate tenor, signature guitar style and moody melodies, Los Angeles-based solo artist Shane Alexander has shaped a distinctive career for himself with his California indie folk and soaring acoustic rock.
Alexander returns with his eighth full-length studio album, Forever Songs, on April 4th. The album is a masterful collection that seamlessly blends California-tinged indie folk with timeless, lyric-driven acoustic rock. The album was meticulously crafted at Buddhaland Studios in Westlake Village, CA, under the watchful eye of Alexander himself, who produced the project with help from engineer Ted Russell Kamp. Grammy-winning mixer Brian Yaskulka and renowned mastering engineer Richard Dodd brought the final polish to this deeply personal work.
Today Glide is offering an exclusive premiere of the standout track “Whole Lotta Stars.” The song finds Alexander fusing a dramatic folk-pop sound with poignant lyricism and the twang of a pedal steel guitar. There is a bouncy, melodic quality to the tune as Alexandar stirs up vivid imagery with a universally resonant message of slowing down to take in all that life has to offer.
Alexander explains the inspiration behind the tune:
“I like this one a lot. I wrote it with Clayton Jospeh Scott, a great artist from Oregon that I also produced last year. It’s a song about just slowing down for a second. As touring artists, we can get caught up in just racing from stop to stop without taking in everything around us. I’m really doing my utmost to savor all the beauty that I see – particularly when I’m traveling alone in the middle of nowhere. I love to just quietly observe. Jamie’s harmony in the chorus helps things to feel so upbeat and infectious.”
