Continuing our spotlight on Faith No More this week, when looking back at the band’s career, it’s hard to argue their highwater mark was not 1992’s Angel Dust, at least from a creative/artistic perspective anyway. Granted, it’s easy to say in retrospect that was the album where everything really came together for the band, but at the time it effectively amounted to career suicide to all the suits at the record label. Indeed, Angel Dust is quite possibly the biggest “fuck you” follow-up to a major commercial breakthrough album perhaps ever concocted, but that’s exactly what makes it so brilliant and enjoyable. And while it was a heavier, darker, and more challenging record overall compared to its generally more accessible predecessor, it still had it’s fair share of undeniable great (albeit unconventional) songs. Chief among them were “Midlife Crisis” and “A Small Victory”, performed here live for MTV back in 1992. Crank it and relive Faith No More in their provocative prime:
