Continuing our spotlight on the epic worldwide concert event that was 1985’s Live Aid, for today’s Tuesday’s Gone, we’re showcasing this fantastic performance of “Money for Nothing” by Dire Straits and Sting from London’s Wembley Stadium. Thanks in large part to the iconic video that was in heavy rotation on MTV at the time (which ended up winning “Video of the Year” at the VMAs), few songs are more synonymous with the 1980s than this rad little ditty. From Sting’s classic opening hymn of “I want my MTV”, to the associated build-up to the iconic main riff, everything about this performance feels larger than life, a fitting jam for such an epic-sized venue/occasion.
