LUCKY is a new Bay Area supergroup featuring Andrew St James, Peter Kegler (Half Stack), Marika Christine, and Zach Elsasser (Affectionately, Half Stack). “Falling Through” is their second single to be released on Royal Oakie Records this year, following up their debut single “Traveler.” The band has plenty more planned for the rest of 2025, indicating that their sophomore single is just scratching the surface of what LUCKY has to offer.

On their second single as a collective, LUCKY crafts a spellbinding alt-rock anthem with psychedelic undertones that emphasize the emotional lyrics and soaring vocal performance. The newly formed supergroup combines its veteran prowess, yet this isn’t a showcase of each member’s unique ability. Instead, “Falling Through” is a clinic on sonic chemistry, proving that LUCKY is set to be far more than a side project for these artists. Their second single is highlighted by poetically moving lyrics delivered via off-kilter vocal melodies over a spacious yet impactful arrangement. The atmospheric folk-rock instrumentation evokes the feeling of letting out a big sigh and letting go of all the strife, but lyrically, LUCKY brings you back to reality as they tether the listener to the real world with vivid imagery of broken-down cars and mental breakdowns. “Falling Through” introduces LUCKY as forward-thinking members of modern alt-country, as they construct an immersive ballad that quickly sets the band apart from their peers.

“‘Falling Through’ was one of the first songs Peter showed me when we were considering making music together. Classic Peter track, Earthy and raw! We sat down together and concocted a treatment which I think does a good job…plus we snuck in a key change which stokes me out,” explains St James when asked about LUCKY’s new single.
