All tickets purchased for the Calverton festival will be automatically refunded to the credit card on which they were purchased, and will not be honored at Giants Stadium.

Led Zeppelin scored its first No. 1 album since 1979’s “In Through the Out Door” this week with the three-CD live set “How the West Was Won.” The Atlantic collection sold 154,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, and debuts on top of The Billboard 200. It was released simultaneously with the “Led Zeppelin DVD,” which set a record for highest debut-week and highest single-week sales for a music DVD. No word yet on whether Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham will reunite for some well-needed live shows.

On August 14th Sonic Youth will perform with a re-united version of Iggy and the Stooges in Detroit. This will be only the second performance of the Stooges with frontman Iggy Pop in 28 years, following a performance at the Coachella festival in California in April.

In the footsteps of Live Phish, The Dead will be printing and selling CDs of all the live shows from its upcoming Summer Getaway Tour, both online and at the venues. Each concert will fit on 3 CDs and will cost $22 per show. The Dead will also be offering a limited edition box set that will contain every show from the tour. These shows to be released will be titled “The Official Concert Recording Series.”
A quartet of classic Santana albums will be reissued Aug. 12 via Columbia/Legacy. All four titles — “Caravanserai,” “Moonflower,” “Love Devotion Surrender” (with Mahavishnu John McLaughlin), and “Welcome” — date back to the 1970s, and have been remixed and remastered for re-release. They feature newly written liner notes by Hal Miller; all but 1972’s “Caravanserai” feature bonus tracks.
“Caravanserai” marked the beginning of the Carlos Santana-led band’s jazz fusion foray. “Love Devotion Surrender”
The former features Carlos Santana and fellow guitarist McLaughlin, both at the time followers of spiritual guru Sri Chinmoy, joined by members of Santana and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. The resulting five-track album was a near-religious experience that kicked off with an interpretation of John Coltrane’s “A Love Supreme.” An alternate take of that cut, as well as an alternate take on Coltrane’s “Naima,” have been added to the reissue.
The title cut of “Welcome” is also a Coltrane original. The previously unreleased song “Mantra” bolsters the re-release of the album.
Finally, 1977’s double-disc “Moonflower” was a mix of live and studio material that grows here with the inclusion of single versions of three of the album’s songs: “Black Magic Woman,” “I’ll Be Waiting,” and the Zombies’ “She’s Not There.”

Former Police drummer Stewart Copeland has amicably settled his lawsuit against two surviving members of the Doors, now touring under the moniker the Doors of the 21st Century.Copeland had sued the group for breach of contract, claiming founding members Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger reneged on a promise to use him during the tour and on an upcoming studio album.
This incarnation of the Doors has been peppered with lawsuits since last year. Original drummer John Densmore, who is not a part of the reunion, sued Manzarek and Krieger for breach of contract, claiming that after lead singer Jim Morrison died in 1971, the three remaining members agreed they would split any future profits from the Doors’ music equally. He alleged the members also agreed the band’s name would not be used unless all three of them were involved.

Last month, a judge denied Densmore’s request for a temporary restraining order preventing Manzarek and Krieger from touring. The group has 13 dates on tap for a summer tour, beginning June 20 in Detroit and including a previously announced Aug. 30 appearance at the Coors Mountain Jam outside Denver.

Former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne, Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon and Thurston Moore, Citizen Cope, and Pamela Laws (Seven Day Diary) will perform at a June 9 literacy fundraiser in New York. The Bowery Ballroom show will benefit the Brooklyn-based Carter G. Woodson Cultural Literacy Program, which helps at risk students in the New York borough’s Brownsville and Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhoods.
Sponsored by the independent publishers alliance BigSmallPressMall, the event will also feature fiction readings by Jonathan Franzen, Mary Gaitskill, and Colson Whitehead. Tickets are $20 in advance and available through TicketWeb or $25 at the venue on the day of the show.
