In a week that already saw tragedy inside a Chicago nightclub, pyrotechnics and fireworks started a deadly fire inside a West Warwick, RI nightclub, called The Station has claimed up to 96 lives and numerous burn victims. 80’s metal band Great White, best known for their hit cover of Ian Hunter’s “Once Bitten Twice Shy” , were playing that evening and used fireworks and other pyrotechnics during the show that are believed to have started the inferno. The fire spread so quickly, people simply didn’t have enough time to exit. Ty Longley, guitarist for Great White is listed among the missing.

Crazier things have happened, like Hanson playing with Ratdog, but there are rumors floating around that Simon & Garfunkel might reconvene with a future concert tour. The two will be honored with a lifetime achievement award at the Grammy Awards which has sparked talk of a possible reunion. London’s Evening Standard reported that negotiations were underway between the duo and its representatives for an extended world trek. The duo split as a performing combo in 1970 and regrouped for their famous Concert at Central Park in 1981. Tour or no tour one thing is certain…. ticket prices will be outrageously expensive.

Harper will be touring in support of his upcoming album “Diamonds on the Inside” due out March 11th and Johnson

22 years later, the Beatles are always discovering a new way to return to the charts. The band will be releasing their anthology series on DVD for the first time on March 31st. The Anthology, will include all original 8 eight episodes of the series that first aired on ABC, plus bonus footage of Pual McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr jamming together in the studio for the first time since 1970.

Like a Time/Life record collection, there appears to be no shortage of singer/songwriters making noise. Peter Yorn, who hit it big last year with his break through record, “Musicforthemorningafter” that featured the hit single “Strange Condition” will be performing a large number of US dates beginning in late April. John Lennon is probably sweating in his grave, as Yoko Ono has recorded a dance version of his final song, “Walking On Thin Ice.” Ono has teamed with the Pet Shop Boys in the production of the song.
