CodeTalkers Releasing New Album ‘Now’ June 13th

Many tributaries flow into the vast ocean of sound that is The CodeTalkers, who encompass the shake of New Orleans soul, the hard electric edge of real blues, fleet fingered acoustic picking, and huge scale epic rock. Founded in 1999 after a Halloween encounter between singer-multi-instrumentalist Bobby Lee Rodgers and southern alternative music legend Col. Bruce Hampton, the group makes glorious pop music infused with the spirit & technical grace of jazz.

This muscular, engaging sound is in full bloom on their new album, Now, being released on June 13, 2006. Now’s 12 tracks, all original songs written by Rodgers, run a wild gamut, from the chugging blues of “Saved By The Same Thing” to the Zappa-like “Victor The Snakeman”. There is incredible balance and nuance to Now that draws deeply from the past but also speaks to a bright future. Loud & soft, direct & elusive, the record flows in an organic, unforced manner that’s positively engaging. It’s no longer a secret – the music of Bobby Lee Rodgers will be heard.

The band’s live shows are a darn good time – vibrant and uplifting and at times downright frivolous – in all the good ways. The CodeTalkers’ unstoppable rhythm section features bassist Ted Pecchio and drummer Tyler Greenwell. And The Colonel is quick to point out that he considers this Bobby Lee’s band, even if he is there many nights jumping around & making inspired noise. “It’s time for the world to hear Bobby,” says Hampton. “Me, I may or may not be there on any given night. That’s the way I want it.”

The Black Crowes Summer Tour To Include Robert Randolph and Drive-By Truckers

On the heels of CHRIS and RICH ROBINSON’s three sold-out nights of acoustic performances in New York City to ecstatic fans and lengthy standing ovations, THE BLACK CROWES have announced a major summer headlining tour with their special guests Robert Randolph & The Family Band and Drive-By Truckers. Launching June 10 in Seattle, the nine-week trek will visit mostly sheds–including Jones Beach (New York), PNC Bank (New Jersey), Shoreline (San Francisco), Tweeter Center (Boston) and Cynthia Woods (Houston)–as it criss-crosses the U.S. into mid-August.

Since reuniting and re-connecting with their loyal fans last year, THE BLACK CROWES have been performing what some called “the best shows of their career.” While they achieved a career watermark by headlining their New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden, the band–Chris (vocals), Rich (guitars), Marc Ford (guitars), Eddie Hawrysch (keyboards), Sven Pipien (bass) and Steve Gorman (drums)–also played seven sold-out shows at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom, performed five-nights at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles and were headliners at three of the most prestigious festivals in America (New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, and Austin City Limits Festival). Summing up the allure of THE BLACK CROWES’ concert experience, Mikael Wood of The Village Voice (12/28/05) said the band “remain one of rock’s best live acts, as hard-grooving as during their heyday and caked with an extra layer of rambling-man soulfulness.”

Particle : The Brickhouse, Phoenix, AZ 3/24/2006

Since 2001, Particle’s rise to success has been meteoric compared to other contemporaries in their scene. Sure they weren’t opening for the Stones at MSG, but in between festival spots at Bonnaroo, Coachella and Austin City Limits, and selling out venues coast to coast, Particle was a rare success with limited record sales. So to most fans on the outside, it came as a surprise when the band broke ties with longtime guitarist Charlie Hitchcock this past autumn. The split is still very much a ‘he said, he said’ mystery, but regardless of who was right or wrong, at the end of he day, one thing is for certain…it definitely didn’t end well.
