Intermezzo: Work For a Free ACL Ticket

Tickets for this year’s Austin City Limits Festival sold out weeks ago, but those willing to work can exchange three five-hour shifts & a $15 application fee for a weekend pass to the event. Visit workexchangeteam.com for more details and to apply for the ACL and/or Festival 8 teams.

In other ACL news, the schedule for the festival – which takes place in Austin’s Zilker Park on October 2 – 4 – has just been released.

Let’s take a look at some other stories we’ve missed this week…

  • Paul McCartney will put out a live album on November 15

This album will be a “live summary” of the concerts given by the ex-Beatle in July, while he played for the very first time at the Citi Field Stadium in New-York City for three memorable nights, on July 17th,18th and 21st 2009.

This CD album is likely to be sold in a box set containing not only a live album but also the DVD of the concert. [via maccablog]

  • Celebrate Brock Butler’s 30th birthday by buying his new EP

Pedro Loopez is a short collection of tracks assembled by Brock, reminiscent of his previous release “Instrumentals & Incidentals,” this collection is a bit more natural sounding with less midi and more cowbell. The original track files will be offered up as well during the coming weeks so Brock’s fans can assemble their own creations to listen to. Look for an announcement about that soon. • Benjy Eisen talks to Roseanne Cash about singing with Tweedy

“I know Jeff just a little bit,” Cash tells Spinner. “I’ve met him a few times and I’m a huge fan of not only Wilco but Golden Smog and all the rest of it, and it was just a great honor for him to do this.”

Tweedy duets with Cash on ‘Long Black Veil,’ a country standard originally performed by Lefty Frizzell and composed by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin. [via Spinner]

Finally, anyone who thought guitarist John Kadlecik’s successful stint with Bobby and Phil as part of last weekend’s Furthur shows would take away from Dark Star Orchestra’s never-ending touring schedule needs to think again. The DSO are playing a full slate of shows starting tomorrow night in Seattle and running through the just announced New Year’s Eve show at Ram’s Head Live in Baltimore. READ ON for more details…
