There is a sonic rumbling that is emanating from the historic musical underground of Brooklyn, New York, and it has caused booties to shake and quake all over the nation this summer. The Pimps of Joytime, in only their third year of existence, have spent the last few months on the road spreading their sound to the masses offering up their musical menu of funk, soul, Latin, and afrobeat grooves.
Remember when the Arctic Monkeys first broke onto the scene in early 2006 and it was too easy to call them another buzz band? Put them on a Spin cover and pretty soon you’ll find them in the $3.00 used CD bin with The Bravery and Kasabian. So, we headed back to the store to pick up a variety of our favorite grillable food stuffs and a few cases of Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPAs for another rousing edition of At The Barbecue.

So, with the scores of albums that went through my Discman (remember those kids?) and have been loaded onto two separate iPods this decade, there have been plenty that were easily forgettable, but only a true handful that have, and will, stand up to repeated listens for the years to come.
