Though Warren Haynes’ annual Christmas Jam has become synonymous with legendary performances and monumental collaborations, it should have surprised no one that the 23rd edition would exceed even those lofty expectations.
It’s not quite accurate to call Frankie Miller the unsung hero of British rock n’ soul because he had more than just a taste of mainstream recognition, while the crafts-manlike songwriter in him garnered comparable commercial success via movies and television. Yet the emotional undercurrent in the music included in …That’s Who! makes the case he was worthy of more widespread acknowledgement than the compilation’s title wryly references.
Ewan Currie is a very down-to-earth young man. Even though his band made the cover of Rolling Stone as winners of a recent contest, he appears to be unfazed by all of the hullabaloo. He is soft-spoken, witty and devoted to the band he has called home since 2005: The Sheepdogs, a Canadian rock and roll band with deep 70’s southern roots.
