20 years ago today (5/2/02), The Polyphonic Spree released their debut album The Beginning Stages of. Led by Tim DeLaughter of Tripping Daisy, this band of 20-plus boy/girl band members on stage wearing long, white robes made out like a cult of hippies. With a colossal sound comprised of choruses, harp, theremin, keyboards, drums, and pretty much every brass instrument under the sun, The Polyphonic Spree was a festival favorite at Bonnaroo 2003 after their debut album and garnered much positive press and acclaim for their then-unique counter-culture sound and hip presentation.
