25 years ago today (6/13/00), Modest Mouse released their third album The Moon & Antarctica. The album explores themes like isolation, death, spirituality, and the vastness of the universe, both literal and metaphorical. It marked the band’s major label debut on Epic Records, following their earlier releases on indie labels. However, the band would make its mark in the mainstream with its full-length follow-up, 2004’s Good News for People Who Love Bad News. Watch Modest Mouse at the old Nita’s Hideaway in Tempe, AZ 10/4/2000- a billing they shared with The Shins & Black Heart Procession.
