While only Genesis in name with their only two core members (Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks), and without Phil Collins for the first time since 1970’s Trespass, the English rockers gave it one last studio go with Calling All Stations (released 9/2/97 in the U.S.). Encompassing some of the 90’s industrial sounds of the time (think “Mama” with even extra distortion) Rutherford and Banks, along with new vocalist Ray Wilson made a very sythn-based album that failed to capture the listenability of the Collins era. The album failed to make a dent in any charts and while the band toured Europe semi-successfully in support, a U.S. tour was canceled due to poor ticket sales. Collins would rejoin the band in 2007 for the Turn it On Again tour, although no new studio music would arise. Check out the video for the lead single “Congo”
