30 years ago today (1/25/94), Alice in Chains released their Jar of Flies EP, arguably one of the greatest EPs of all time. At seven songs and 30 minutes, the songs feature the dynamic interplay of Layne Staley and Jerry Cantrell with hypnotically dark and intimate compositions that stick memorably including “Rotten Apple,” “Nutshell” and “I Stay Away,” Lead single “No Excuses” features a memorable drum intro and served as another entryway into the catalog of Alice in Chains for many a new fan. Check out “Nutshell” live from MTV Unplugged.
