30 years ago today (11/16/93), Us3 released its debut album Hand on the Torch. The album is known for its fusion of jazz and hip-hop beats, as all samples used on the album are from old Blue Note Records classics. The album was a success and spawned the hit single “Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia)”, which was sampled from Herbie Hancock’s “Cantaloupe Island”. Check out that video that got lots of play in ’93/94
