30 Years Ago Today – Kyuss Released Third Album ‘Welcome To Sky Valley’

30 years ago today (6/28/94), Kyuss released its third studio album, Welcome To Sky Valley. The album cover features a photograph of a sign reading “Welcome to Sky Valley” on Dillon Road in Sky Valley, California, just north of Palm Desert. That has since become a destination point for followers of stoner rock, capturing the essence of the band’s desert rock aesthetic. The album is considered a landmark in the stoner rock genre, showcasing Kyuss’s unique blend of heavy, riff-driven music and desert rock influences and allowing a young Josh Homme to give his voice as the leader of the genre.
