30 Years Ago Today – Sunny Day Real Estate Releases Debut Album ‘Diary’

30 years ago today (5/10/94), Sunny Day Real Estate released their debut album Diary. Led by Jeremy Enigk and two future members of Foo Fighters (William Goldsmith and Nate Mendel), Diary served as a sprawling epic album that leaned on Emo tendencies while never straying from urgent hard rock. Enigk’s lyrics delve into themes of introspection, existentialism, and personal struggle and have made the album the band’s most admired recording. Watch Sunny Day live on 120 Minutes in 1994
