30 years ago today (6/2/92), The Lemonheads released their breakthrough LP It’s a Shame About Ray. Led by Evan Dando with help from Julian Hatfield (bass, backing vocals) and David Ryan (drums), this fifth album from the Boston-based band contained a no-filler stamp on potent jangle rock with contagious hooks. After its initial release, the album was reissued with a cover of “Mrs. Robinson”, that got the band much radio and MTV love, but It’s a Shame About Ray, without the gimmicks, are one of alt-rock’s early 90’s highlights. Revisit the now 30 year old classic below in full.
