35 years ago today (11/2/81), Neil Young and Crazy Horse set their first footprint in the path to grunge with what is probably their most underrated effort- Reactor. With no softer introspective ballads, Reactor was packed full of loud guitars, synths and endless jamming as in T-bone” where for nine-plus minutes, Young repeats “got mashed potatoes, ain’t got no T-bone.” While the rest of the 80’s didn’t prove as creatively defining for Young, this statement always makes a bold statement for blasting enthusiastic rock where nothing is taken too seriously.
