35 Years Ago Today- Pantera Release Breakthrough Album ‘Cowboys From Hell’

Thirty five years ago today (July 24, 1990), Pantera released their breakthrough LP, Cowboys From Hell. This fifth album and major-label debut featured a barrage of grinding riffs and fearsome vocals courtesy of Diamond Darrell and Phil Anselmo—a departure from their more glam rock offerings before 1990. This, along with 1992’s Vulgar Display of Power, catapulted Pantera as the ’90s most influential and most significant metal act.
