35 years ago today (5/9/87), The Grateful Dead filmed their first real MTV video for “Touch Of Grey” which would soon become their first mainstream hit and usher in a new generation of fans for better or worse. The video was filmed after a concert at Laguna Seca Recreation Area in Monterey, California. Following the show (which featured “The Other One” out of “Space”), the audience was brought back in to watch two different performances of “Touch of Grey” one by the band and another by their life-size skeleton marionettes dressed as each band member.
