40 Years Ago Today – Bruce Springsteen Releases Hugely Commercially Succesful Album ‘Born In The U.S.A.’

Before huge political divides, it was ok for anyone to have a blockbuster album titled Born In The U.S.A. 40 years ago today (6/4/84), Bruce Springsteen did just that and released his seventh studio album, Born In The U.S.A., and broke into the mainstream with his most pop-oriented album to date: a vast departure from 1982’s folksy Nebraska.

Born In The U.S.A. was stacked with hits, including even top-ten singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including “Dancing in the Dark,” “Cover Me,” “Born in the USA,” “I’m on Fire,” “Glory Days,” “I’m Goin’ Down,” and “My Hometown.” Springsteen was backed by The E Street Band on the album, aiding in the robust synthesizers, catchy hooks, and anthemic choruses.
