40 years ago today (10/26/75), Elton John performed the second of two sold-out shows at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. This was the first time a pop music act had performed at the ballpark since the Beatles in 1966. Each night, John performed for over three hours in front of 55,000 fans and was at his craziest piano antic/big glasses/loud costume period of his career. During his second set, John wore a sequined Dodger uniform designed by Bob Mackie, complete with LA baseball cap and “Elton” and the number “1” on the back. Watch Elton take on The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” at Dodger Stadium, a song he also sang in Tommy the movie from the same year.
