40 years ago today (7/25/83), Metallica kicked off what would be one of the heaviest commercial careers in rock with the release of their debut album Kill ‘Em All. While hardly a big seller at the time, the thrash album set the prototype for a discography through And Justice For All ( and for others The Black Album) that would become one of metal’s most revered catalogs. Courtesy of rhythmic and melodic twin guitars and Cliff Burton’s inventive bass that tore thru an unrelenting ten tracks (and two covers), Kill ‘Em All remains for many their favorite Metallica album.
