40 Years Ago Today- Prince Releases ‘1999’ Album

40 years ago today (10/27/82), Prince released 1999, his fifth album and first with his slinky funky new wave band The Revolution. 1999 was Prince’s first top-10 album on the Billboard 200 and featured three singles “1999,” “Little Red Corvette,” and “Delirious.” While the year 1999 seemed a long ways off in ’82, Prince became a regular on MTV and the album set the course for the culture shock Purple Rain, and one of the most successful musical careers ever. Check out Prince doing his thing live in 1982….as one commenter wrote “James Brown, Little Richard and Jimi Hendrix all rolled into one”
