Then husband and wife team Richard and Linda Thompson had two albums considered “masterpieces” by critics and fans. The first was 1974’s I Want to See the Bright Lights Tonight and the second arrived eight years later Shoot Out the Lights. Released 40 years ago today (3/15/82), Shoot Out the Lights is eight tracks as strong as they come, a galloping force of folk, rock, and lyrical imagery that is still unrivaled.
