40 ago today (2/16/82), Simon & Garfunkel released their Concert at Central Park LP. Recorded live from their Concert at Central Park in front of 500,00 people on 9/19/81, the performance was staged as a free benefit concert in Central Park, New York City and proceeds went toward the redevelopment and maintenance of the run-down green space in the middle of Manhattan. Simon & Garfunkel had broken up shortly after the 1970 release of their fifth studio album, Bridge Over Troubled Water and Paul Simon had built a successful solo career. The two settled their past differences and blended their iconic voices magnificently on this concert and live album. Watch the duo perform the impeccable “Sound of Silence” live from Central Park…
